Vibration counter device with 2in x 2in display using pedometer components

Hey, I'm in the process of creating a device that when attached to an object can sense vibrations(not sensitive) then numercially counter each occurrence on a digital display on the device. I'm trying to make the device about 2in x 2in. I need some help making the circuit board and was wondering if I could take apart a pedometer and use its board with a new display screen? This isn't my field and I'm trying to find someone locally to help me but I'm not having any luck. If anyone has any thoughts or information let me know! Thanks! Wes

Can't find the right part

Hey, I'm looking for something that can sense a vibration(low sensitivity) and numerically count the number of times the vibration occurs on a digital display. I've been looking at accelerometers using dynamic force. Are there any other ways to get this outcome?

Welcome to the PF. Depending on the pedometer, you might be able to take it apart and use some parts of it.
