Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses a desire for astronomy and quantum mechanics book recommendations for summer reading.
  • Another participant suggests providing background information to tailor book recommendations appropriately.
  • A participant shares their limited formal physics education but indicates a strong personal interest and self-study in the subject.
  • Several specific book titles are recommended, including "Introductory Astronomy and Astrophysics," "Understanding Space," "Fundamental Astronomy," and "Feynman Lectures on Physics VOL 3."
  • It is noted that the "Feynman Lectures" may require a background in physics and mathematics.
  • Another suggestion includes looking into the "Very Short Introductions" series from Oxford for accessible content.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the need for book recommendations, but there is no consensus on which specific books are best suited for someone with limited physics background.

Contextual Notes

Some recommendations may depend on the reader's prior knowledge and understanding of physics concepts, which has not been fully clarified in the discussion.

Since summer is near i want to take some astronomy, astrophysics book...or maybe quantum mechanics and string theory! Any suggestions?

Physics news on Phys.org
there are a science book forum for that.

also give us your background so that approriate books can be recommended for you.

Moderators will move this thread to the correct forum for you, so don't panic.

I wanted to post this here but i couldn't...but nvm that. Tnx for replay!
About background...i really don't have physics at school because I am in economy school...but i like it very much i watch a lot of videos on youtube, read on Wikipedia and forum and i know more then some one at my age who has physics in school. As i said i want something about space...astronomy...theories maybe.

Here's a few recommendations;

Introductory Astronomy and Astrophysics by Stephen A. Gregory and Michael Zeilik.

Understanding Space by Jerry Sellers

Fundamental Astronomy by H. Karttunen

Feynman Lectures on Physics VOL 3

yours

Obs

Tnx i will go to find them this week!
