What are the latest advancements in materials engineering?

How did you find PF?: Googled questions led to a response on here.

Well this site seems neat. I work at a glass fabricator and have been interested in materials engineering so I felt this would be nice. I hope to learn more about this industry and maybe be able to help others that are outside it.
