SUMMARY

The discussion highlights the preferences for circuit simulation tools among users with varying skill levels. CircuitMaker 2000 is favored for its speed and simplicity, particularly for beginners. Users recommend OrCAD for more advanced simulations, especially for mixed signal circuits, and emphasize the effectiveness of PSpice for those who prefer writing netlists. The conversation also touches on the use of tools like Electronics Workbench, Proteus, and the importance of understanding both digital and analog circuit simulations.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation concepts
  • Basic understanding of digital and analog circuits
  • Knowledge of OrCAD and PSpice tools
  • Experience with PCB layout and design
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore advanced features of OrCAD for mixed signal simulations
  • Learn about PSpice netlist creation and optimization
  • Research the capabilities of Proteus for circuit design
  • Investigate the differences between various SPICE variants

for students, mid-level and pros

i use circuitmaker 2000, it has the least features of the sims but it is fast and easy to use. what should i use as a step up (i have electronics workbench, proteus, orcad student).

also just because I'm curious what do you guys use at work?

Engineering news on Phys.org
What kind of circuits? Digital, analog, CPLD, FPGA, Verilog, etc.? Mixed signal too?

mixed signal with spice.

I've been using several sims, but it seems that orCAD is the best. But if you prefer writing your own netlists, try any of spice variants ;)

pspice and orcad are the best ... i am studing capture and layout for pcb and it is so easy to interface with
