What Career Options do I Have in Aeronautics (not Astronautics) ?

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around career options in aeronautics, distinguishing it from astronautics. Participants explore the definitions and scope of both fields, seeking clarity on potential career paths and educational requirements in aeronautics.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Conceptual clarification
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses a need for guidance on career options in aeronautics, emphasizing the importance of this information for an upcoming interview.
  • Several participants inquire about the differences between aeronautics and astronautics, with one noting that astronautics focuses on space flight while aeronautics covers a broader range of topics including fixed-wing aircraft and aerodynamics.
  • Another participant seeks clarification on the distinction between astronautical engineering and space engineering, suggesting that space engineering involves systems like satellites and remote sensing, which are built by astronautical engineers.
  • One response highlights the challenges of aerospace engineering, indicating it is a demanding field for students interested in aeronautics.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the distinction between aeronautics and astronautics, but there is ongoing inquiry into the specifics of career paths and the definitions of related engineering fields, indicating some uncertainty and lack of consensus.

Contextual Notes

Some definitions and distinctions presented may depend on specific educational programs or institutional interpretations, which are not fully explored in the discussion.

Who May Find This Useful

What Career Options do I Have in Aeronautics (not Astronautics)!??

Its a frank question, I need answers.
I'm going to have an interview very soon in which I'll have to answer about my ambitions, my career, where I plan to study...everything. I plan on going into aeronautics for sure.
Any help will be appreciated ...please...!

Aerospace engineering is divided into two parts- astronautical and aeronautical.

Astronautical is generally concentrated to space flight, that is rockets and such.

But, aeronautics is a wider topic. It involves research of fixed-wing aircrafts, heelicopters, gliders, etc. It also takes into account the aerodynamics and effect of the air around the airplane, whereas, in astonautics, you don't look into effects of air, as, there is no air in outer space.

thanks. and what's the difference between astronautical engineering and space engineering?

Hi,Thank you for your query.Aeronautics and Aerospace engineering is one of the most challenging fields of engineering. This is the best engineering for aeronautics students who learns that how they maintained, how they constructed and develops.:approve:

Space engineering encompasses space systems (satellites, remote sensing, communications, etc.) The things that you're spending millions of dollars getting into space on the things that astronautical engineers build. For instance:

(That's the second hit from a Google search for "space engineering")
