    Looks like a spot of light. Impossible to say any more.

    It is hard for us to say just from looking at this photo. Do you yourself have access to this lab? Using a small slip of paper or business card, position the paper so that it casts a shadow or blocks the spot of light. Move the paper farther away from the spot's location, keeping the spot blocked. Eventually the paper should hit whatever the source of light is.

    give more information about the experiment you are doing, may be laser induced plasma!!!
