What is the Relationship Between Physics and Mathematics?

The name's James, a pleasure to make the acquaintance of you all! I'm an amateur at best in the realm of physics as I have yet to grasp the math behind it all. So here I come to sate my piqued interest and perhaps raise some interesting and possibly unanswered questions that will provide food for thought. :)
