What nuclear fission reactor design has the least environmental impact?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on identifying nuclear fission reactor designs with minimal environmental impact, considering factors like construction, operation, safety, and pollution. Integral Fast Reactors (IFR) and breeder reactors are highlighted for their ability to utilize actinides, potentially reducing waste. The conversation references Generation IV reactors as a current framework for evaluating future designs. While environmental impact is crucial, it is acknowledged that other factors also play a significant role in reactor design considerations. Overall, the focus remains on balancing environmental concerns with other operational aspects of nuclear reactors.

I'd imagine IFR/breeder reactors as they burn actinides.
