I never said KUL was the oldest
I never said you did, but you did say it was 'one' of the oldest in Europe. Which it isn't really, that was my point.

LOL, you do see the "contradictio in terminis" in your own sentence here, right ?
Nope I dont... If the University of Constantinople was still around, it would be in turkey, but of Hellenic Origins. Same goes for a University in Leuven, it could be argued that it is actually of Dutch Origins. That was my point. :)

yeap suppose so, thus the Identity crises you see in Many a place in Belgium. Looks like KUL was started around the time of the Burgundian Netherlands rule over Leuven, which were actually from the French Royal house. I suppose we can just say they were Netherlandish. hehe.

So KUL is the oldest "Netherlandish" Uni

Well, it is one of the oldest Catholic niversities, so YES it is.

Well, your point there was wrong because you say "KUL is NOT a Belgian university because Begium did not exist back then. So we wonder if this university has Belgian roots". Well since Belgium did not yet exist how can you wonder about the Belgium roots ? This is the same error as saying that the KUL is a "Nederlandish" uni because you take a name that is assigned to a country we all know NOW but it was not the same "country" at the moment of origin. Besides, back then, this region was NOT just called "Nederlandish". That is your mistake as well.

Clearly you dont' know Belgium, but why does tha not surprise me ? LOL again.

But don't worry, i know what you are trying to do here...

LOL

I suggest you start looking up who or what "house" founded the KUL because you are way off. It even surprises me you never mentioned the Catholic Church.

That maybe what you think, or would like to think, or perhaps even project onto me as what I said. However if you just go up a bit and read what I said you will see that I didnt say that!

Just to remind you:

Belgium didnt even exist in the 1400 so its debatable whether the old Universities in Belgium are of Belgium origins.

Quite a stark contrast, to what you said I said. That is your mistake :)

Not a country a people. The Flems of modern and The Netherlands have common origin. The peoplke whom roamed in the lowlands were called netherlandish (low lands).

Living and working in Brussels for 2.5 years has given me 1st hand experience of Belgium. A Bastardised country of Wallonia and Flanders, two people with little in common, in the hell pit (first world war battle field) of Europe. Were the Taxes reach 55% of Income because the National debt is 96% of GDP Due to the Marshal plan, and other international Debts. A federal country be necessity and a Langauge Barrier larger than the Berlin Wall.

But its not all bad, the people here are nice in general. But what I never understood is Belgium IS the fronter between the Northern and Southern European Cultures it should be a place of meeting, mixing. But it doesn't seem like that.

Anyway, don't take it as an insult, its just an observation from a Foreigner in Belgium ;)

If it is not yet clear : "ARE OF BELGIUM ORIGINS..."

See what i mean ?

This true but irrelevant. The point is that you make references to entities that exist both nowaydays and in the past, but that did NOT have the meaning as they have today.

LOL, living and working 26 years has given me even better experience of Belgium and what you say is UNTRUE. But again, i knew this is what you actually wanted to say and that is why i wrote "i know what you are trying to do here" just a few posts ago. Besides, if it is all that bad, why are YOU here ? We sure as hell dont' need you here but your company is HERE and wanted you to be HERE. That's the reality and that is all there is to it.

Bye bye

I studied at the University of Maine at Orono - a land-grant college with a pretty demanding Engineering school. Nowadays I can study from home. Like Astronuc (another old guy) I get some of my best ideas while doing things unrelated to stuff I'm working on, like sitting in a tree stand waiting for some (lucky) deer to come along, or riding my motorcycle. Often, I have no handy way to record the ideas, so I just go over them mentally until I've got a really detailed conceptual image of them.
