In seeking research opportunities, it's essential to provide a comprehensive CV and transcript to the professor. The CV should highlight relevant skills, coursework, and any extracurricular activities that demonstrate passion for physics, despite a lack of formal research experience. Including a brief covering letter expressing enthusiasm for the subject and the desire to learn can be beneficial. Honesty about experience levels is encouraged, and seeking advice from current research assistants or graduate students can provide valuable insights.

I am currently in my 3rd year of physics and I wanted to do some research with a professor. I have emailed him and he said that I need to provide him with a transcript and a cv. But I have no experience doing research at all. So what do I include in the cv?

Everything about yourself that you think is important and not in the transcript.
The prof will realize that you have little or no experience.
You may want to say how passionate you are for the subject, and why, in a short covering letter. Be precise.

I know it's scary. It's best to be honest and take the consequences.
Best advise will come from the profs other research assistants or grad students.

Ok, that's sounds like a plan, thank you so much for the great advice!

Good luck :)

Can someone tell me what topics to cover first to build a framework and then go on in detail. I want to learn fast. It has taken me a year now learning arithmetic. I want to speed up. Thanks for the help in advance. (I also...
Hi community My aim is to get into research about atoms, specifically, I want to do experimental research that explores questions like: 1. Why do Gallium/Mercury have low melting points 2. Why are there so many exceptions and inconsistencies when it comes to explaining molecular structures / reaction mechanisms in inorganic and organic chemistry 3. Experimental research about fundamental Quantum Mechanics, such as the one being followed by Hiroshima university that proved that observing...
