SUMMARY

The discussion centers on finding free software for generating caustics and cusps, specifically for creating quick 2D plots. A recommended resource is the free program available at Dual Heights Caustics. Additionally, there is interest in writing a script using gfortran for custom solutions. The focus is on accessibility and ease of use for visualizing these mathematical phenomena.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of caustics and cusps in mathematics
  • Familiarity with 2D plotting techniques
  • Knowledge of gfortran programming language
  • Experience with software installation and usage
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore the features of the Dual Heights Caustics software
  • Learn gfortran scripting for custom caustics generation
  • Research 2D plotting libraries compatible with gfortran
  • Investigate mathematical theories behind caustics and their applications
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for mathematicians, software developers, and researchers interested in visualizing caustics and cusps, as well as those looking to enhance their programming skills in gfortran.

Hello folks, I'm looking for a free programme to play with caustics/cusps.
Does anyone know where I can find one? If not does anyone have any suggestions as to how to write a script
for one in gfortran?
Preferably all I'm after is a way to make quick plots of cusps in 2D.

Cheers and thanks a bunch.
