Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around finding screw-end syringes for an experiment, specifically those that allow for liquid injection through a manual screwing mechanism rather than a direct push-pull method. The scope includes practical applications and potential DIY solutions.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Experimental/applied

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests information on where to find 10 ml screw-end syringes for their experiment.
  • Another participant mentions that they have only seen screw-end syringes for smaller volumes (<1 ml) and provides a link to a company that offers threaded plunger syringes.
  • This participant also suggests the possibility of creating a DIY solution using a holder and a nut and bolt to achieve the desired mechanism.
  • A later reply expresses appreciation for the DIY suggestion and indicates interest in pursuing that option.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not appear to reach a consensus on the availability of the requested syringes, as one participant notes they have only seen smaller volumes available. The discussion includes both requests for information and suggestions for alternative solutions.

Contextual Notes

The discussion does not clarify the specific requirements or constraints of the experiment, nor does it address potential limitations of the suggested DIY approach.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in experimental setups involving syringes, particularly those exploring alternative syringe mechanisms or DIY solutions for laboratory applications.

Hi PF!

I am doing an experiment and need at least 10 ml syringe that injects liquid by screwing the end of the syringe manually, rather then direct push-pull mechanism. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have only seen this done with smaller volumes (<1 ml).

There are http://www.hamiltoncompany.com/products/syringes-and-needles/life-science-syringes/threaded-plunger-syringes.
There are syringe holders that use a screw to push in the syringe plunger.

Otherwise you could make one your self by making something to hold the syringe and a nut and bolt.
Similar to this.
