The asbestos sheets sometimes used for roofing, to avoid sunlight in front of stores etc, are always corrugated. Can somebody explain why these sheets are corrugated and not flat.
Corrugated asbestos sheets are utilized for roofing primarily due to their efficiency in diverting dirt and rainwater, as well as their interlocking design that facilitates waterproofing. The corrugated shape provides higher bending stiffness and moment of inertia compared to flat sheets, making them structurally superior. Although the use of asbestos has been largely discontinued in developed countries due to health hazards, it remains prevalent in developing nations such as India, China, Russia, and Brazil, where corrugated asbestos-cement sheets (A/C Sheets) are commonly used in construction.
PREREQUISITESConstruction professionals, architects, environmental health specialists, and anyone involved in roofing material selection and safety regulations.
