Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the causes of arthritic feelings experienced during prolonged fever. Participants explore potential mechanisms behind these sensations, including inflammation and the immune response, as well as the implications of persistent symptoms.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Technical explanation
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about the cause of arthritic feelings during fever, suggesting possible mechanisms such as joint deposition or muscle contraction.
  • Another participant attributes these feelings to inflammation in the joints, explaining that the immune response during fever targets bacteria and viruses, which may lead to joint inflammation.
  • A follow-up question asks what might happen if symptoms persist beyond 14 days, indicating curiosity about potential underlying issues.
  • Responses suggest that prolonged symptoms could indicate a bacterial or viral infection that the body struggles to combat, or in older individuals, possibly cancer, highlighting the need for medical consultation.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express varying views on the implications of prolonged fever symptoms, with some suggesting normal immune responses while others raise concerns about serious conditions. No consensus is reached regarding the exact causes or necessary actions for prolonged symptoms.

Contextual Notes

Participants mention the normal duration of immune responses and the potential for serious conditions if symptoms persist, but these points are not universally accepted or elaborated upon, leaving some assumptions and conditions unresolved.

"Ya Give Me Feva..".

Just got over a rather lengthy illness, and my curiosity was pigued. Can anyone tell me what causes the arthritic feelings one gets when running a fever for a long time? Is there something being deposited in the joints, like when a diver gets the bends, or perhaps the muscles or tendons contract? I can't be the only one who wonders this, so rather than just looking up the answers, I thought I'd ask here so others can benifit.

Arthritic feelings is due to an inflammation of your joint.

When you running a fever, your immune system is running inflammation (bacteria and virus grow well at 37C, as temperature rise bacteria and viruses start to have problem growing). As fever and the disease goes on bacteria migth go into your joint and the inflammation process get into your joint in order to eliminate the bacteria or virus.

What your are feeling is normal unless its been for more than 14 days (normal immune responce last 14 days) than you should consult a doctor.

just out of cuiriousity if it lasts more than 14 days what might it be?

im not sick and avoiding the doctor I am just interested

It migth be bacteria or virus but your body is having problem to figth them. Therefore you migth require antibiotics or antiviral medication to help

If your older (above 50 year old) and the fever has been lasting for a while it migth be cancer. You immune system is triyng to figth the cancer but it is not capable of doing it. As you get older your immune system is getting weaker. Not all cancer have fever as a symtomps.
