Young's modulus value of Ferrous Tungsten

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The Young's modulus value of Ferrous Tungsten (FeW) cannot be derived from the Young's modulus values of its constituent elements, Ferrous and Tungsten. The discussion emphasizes that "Ferrous" is not a specific material, making it inappropriate to reference its Young's modulus. To obtain the Young's modulus for Ferrous Tungsten, one must either measure it directly or consult specialized resources, such as reference books in college libraries or industry contacts. The need for precise measurement is highlighted, as generic values for combining elements are not readily available online.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Young's modulus and its significance in material science
  • Familiarity with material properties and their measurement techniques
  • Knowledge of Ferrous Tungsten and its applications in engineering
  • Access to engineering reference materials or databases
NEXT STEPS
  • Research measurement techniques for Young's modulus in composite materials
  • Explore material property databases for specific values of Ferrous Tungsten
  • Investigate academic resources on the mechanical properties of thin films
  • Contact manufacturers or industry experts for empirical data on FeW
USEFUL FOR

Material scientists, mechanical engineers, and researchers involved in the study of composite materials and their mechanical properties will benefit from this discussion.

How can I get Young's modulus value of Ferrous Tungsten? Is it possible to get it from Young's modulus value of Ferrous and Young's modulus value of Tungsten?

Physics news on Phys.org
Short answer = no.

I understand there are different kinds of ferrous tungsten anyway.

You have to measure it or find someone who has.

Your college library will have a reference book on material properties that may help.
Try the engineering department, or companies who make stuff from it.

As a detail, "Ferrous" is not a material so it does not make sense to talk about its Young's modulus or any other property.

This question has been posted in the HW forums.

Actually I want to measure the stress value of FeW thin film. How can i get it?

Somebody says that Combining elements Young's modulus is available in the website. But I can't get it for FeW.

Same answer as before.

Well, you need to talk to 'somebody' or 'them' about this 'website'.
