Internships in statistics/biostatistics for graduate students

AI Thread Summary
To strengthen a resume or CV, the discussion focuses on seeking summer internships for graduate students in applied mathematics, statistics, and biostatistics. Notable internship opportunities mentioned include positions at the Mayo Clinic and the Census Bureau. Additionally, participating as a graduate teaching assistant in a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program is considered, although specific openings for graduate assistants are scarce. The individual is a graduate student with three years of coursework in math and statistics, planning to start research in biostatistics soon. They have a solid academic background, including a summer REU in coding theory, and are proficient in SAS and R, as well as bilingual in English and Spanish. Suggestions include exploring resources from the American Statistical Association for a variety of internship opportunities across different levels and industries, particularly in pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.

I would like to strengthen my resume/CV, so I am searching for summer internships for graduate students in applied math/statistics/biostatics (preferably the latter two). Another option that I'm considering is participating in an REU as a graduate teaching assistant.
The internships that I have found so far are: Mayo clinic (biostatistics) and the Census Bureau (statistics). I have also found a list of REU's on the NSF website. None of them really post any openings for graduate student assistants.

A little bit about myself. I'm a graduate student in applied mathematics and statistics (my program is interdisciplinary). By next summer, I will have three years of graduate coursework in math and statistics. I will start doing research in biostatistics next school year. As an undergraduate I majored in math and I did an summer REU in coding theory. I have taken a range of courses including numerical analysis, ode/pde, analysis, regression, categorical data, algebra, probability, statistical inference, longitudinal data, linear algebra, model selection. I am familiar with SAS and R. I'm also bilingual (English and Spanish).

Any comments or suggestions?

Since you are a graduate student in statistics, you might want to take a look at the following link from the American Statistical Association (ASA) website:

http://www.amstat.org/education/internships.cfm

The links present a mixture of undergraduate (REU), masters and PhD level internship forr statistics and biostatistics opportunities in a wide range of companies and organizations, e.g. in pharmaceutical and biotech companies and teaching hospitals (for biostatistics students).

I'm going to make this one quick since I have little time. Background: Throughout my life I have always done good in Math. I almost always received 90%+, and received easily upwards of 95% when I took normal-level HS Math courses. When I took Grade 9 "De-Streamed" Math (All students must take "De-Streamed" in Canada), I initially had 98% until I got very sick and my mark had dropped to 95%. The Physics teachers and Math teachers talked about me as if I were some sort of genius. Then, an...
Bit Britain-specific but I was wondering, what's the best path to take for A-Levels out of the following (I know Y10 seems a bit early to be thinking about A-levels, but my choice will impact what I do this year/ in y11) I (almost) definitely want to do physics at University - so keep that in mind... The subjects that I'm almost definitely going to take are Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and I'm taking a fast track programme which means that I'll be taking AS computer science at the end...
After a year of thought, I decided to adjust my ratio for applying the US/EU(+UK) schools. I mostly focused on the US schools before, but things are getting complex and I found out that Europe is also a good place to study. I found some institutes that have professors with similar interests. But gaining the information is much harder than US schools (like you have to contact professors in advance etc). For your information, I have B.S. in engineering (low GPA: 3.2/4.0) in Asia - one SCI...
