In summary, using toys and habits such as fidget spinners, stress balls, chewing gum, doodling, and using a standing desk or exercise ball as a chair can help keep hands active while studying. These can also improve focus and concentration and reduce stress and anxiety, ultimately improving cognitive function. Some toys and habits may work better for certain subjects or tasks, but it is not necessary to use them while studying. It is important to find what works best for each individual and use them in moderation to avoid potential drawbacks such as becoming too reliant on them.

I have a habit of playing with things while studying. Keeping hands active helps me think. Mostly spinning pens and stuff. Some people have yo-yo.

Anyone else have the same habit? Any recommended things to keep hands busy?

I understand the importance of having a stimulating environment while studying. It is well known that keeping the mind and body engaged can enhance cognitive function and improve focus. Therefore, it is not surprising that many individuals, including yourself, have developed a habit of playing with objects while studying.

Research has shown that fidgeting or engaging in repetitive hand movements can actually improve concentration and reduce restlessness. This is because these actions stimulate the brain's reward centers, releasing dopamine and promoting a sense of calm and focus.

In terms of recommended objects to keep hands busy, it really depends on personal preference. Some people find that spinning pens or using a yo-yo works well for them, while others may prefer stress balls or fidget spinners. It is important to find something that is not too distracting and does not take away from the studying process.

Additionally, incorporating physical movement breaks into your studying routine can also be beneficial. This could include taking a short walk, doing some light stretching, or even just standing up and moving around for a few minutes. This can help to release tension and promote blood flow, which can improve cognitive function and overall well-being.

In conclusion, while it is important to find ways to keep hands active while studying, it is also important to find a balance and not let it become too distracting. Experiment with different objects and movements to find what works best for you and remember to incorporate movement breaks to keep your mind and body engaged.
