CAMB Output File: TT Power Spectrum (C_l) Columns

In summary, The conversation is discussing the availability of a code called camb, which can be accessed through a web interface form. One of the output files, named camb_13685314_scalcls.dat, contains the scalar C(l)'s. The person asks for clarification on which column contains C_{TT}(l) and receives a helpful response. They express their gratitude and ask for further assistance if needed.

Hi, all!

The camb code is available at

http://lambda.gsfc.nasa.gov/toolbox/tb_camb_form.cfm

in a web interface form. One of it's output files, named something like

camb_13685314_scalcls.dat

should contain the scalar [tex]C(l)[/tex]'s.

Can anyone tell me, what exactly is contained in each column of that output file. Namely, in which column [tex]C_{TT}(l)[/tex] is contained?

Thanks in advance!
Angelos

No problem :) If you have any other questions with regards to power spectrum estimation or analysis, I'll be here!

1. What is a CAMB output file and what does it contain?

A CAMB output file is a data file generated by the COSMOMC software, which is used for cosmological parameter estimation. It contains various information related to the cosmic microwave background (CMB) including the TT power spectrum (C_l) columns.

2. What is the purpose of the TT power spectrum (C_l) columns in a CAMB output file?

The TT power spectrum (C_l) columns in a CAMB output file provide information about the temperature fluctuations in the cosmic microwave background radiation. They represent the amount of anisotropy at different angular scales, which can help us understand the structure and evolution of the universe.

3. How are the TT power spectrum (C_l) columns calculated?

The TT power spectrum (C_l) columns are calculated using a combination of theoretical models and observational data. The theoretical models include the standard ΛCDM cosmology and various inflationary models, while the observational data comes from experiments such as the Planck satellite.

4. What is the significance of the TT power spectrum (C_l) columns in cosmology?

The TT power spectrum (C_l) columns are important in cosmology because they provide a way to test and constrain different cosmological models. By comparing the predicted CMB temperature fluctuations with the observed ones, we can determine the values of cosmological parameters such as the density of matter and dark energy, the age of the universe, and the amount of primordial fluctuations.

5. How can one interpret the TT power spectrum (C_l) columns in a CAMB output file?

The TT power spectrum (C_l) columns in a CAMB output file can be interpreted as a measure of the amount of anisotropy in the cosmic microwave background at different angular scales. Higher values indicate larger temperature fluctuations, while lower values indicate smoother regions of the universe. The shape of the power spectrum can also provide information about the composition and evolution of the universe.
