    Hello
In summary, Giant is new to PF and is interested in making new friends and learning about physics. He has read an article written by a member of PF and has some questions about being a scientist. He has a few books on physics and is interested in learning more. He is also attending holidays so he can attend some of his professor's lectures. He is undecided about which subject he would like to specialize in, but he is open to trying different things.

hello!
I'm new here, looking forward to make new friends
This is my first post!
I just finished my high school and now I'm going to join an undergrad physics program
I have interest in research and I've even read the article written by a PF member about being a scientist it answered most of my questions and looking by the amount of geniuses present I joined PF

Please introduce yourselves to me too!

Welcome to PF, Giant!

I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

It's a nice compliment of course, but you shouldn't confuse genius with hard work. You don't need to be a genius to be a successful physicist. You mostly need to work very hard and have some luck. So I wouldn't say most scientists really are geniuses. But then again, there's this guy:

By the way, do you have a favorite fish?

Helloooo Giant,
Yes,what's your favourite fish?

Fish?
For eating or looks or abilities?

And yess
That guy is a genius I have his 3 lectures I'll start reading next month
I also possesses 2 more books
"Surely you're joking Mr.Feynman" and
"QED"
I can't think a good time to start them yet but I'll start soon

We don't care much about why it's your favorite fish. :tongue2:

Welcome mate! Try not to piss off admins and/or mentors :P

"Surely you're joking Mr. Feynman" is non technical. You should read it, no need to wait..

QED is, even though not a textbook, a bit technical.. It's self contained tho, AFAIK.

Blue whale isn't a fish,, that's pretty sad
so I'm going to go with Megalodon
It's pretty sad that it died
BTW why does everyone ask my favourite fish?

Try not to piss off admins and/or mentors :P
Thanks,, I'll keep that in mind.

It's just that I have too much to read and all is non technical
My older cousin gave me some relativity book,, all the tensor analysis is above my head, It's more of a reference i guess, I wonder why he gave me. FYI its by an author called Wald. Its a big fat book.

I have holidays going on, so one of my physics professor gave me vector calculus book. That grad, div, curl, laplacian was mind blowing. My college course will cover all but I have no patience to wait for 2 years just to know what partial differentiation is
Then again my stuck between set theory or differential equation. But I think I'll find a thread. Almost all my questions are already answered in here.I would've asked for tips but even those can be found in here.

It's a PF tradition . I don't know who made it though

We should have it as the official PF fish.

Welcome to PF Giant! :)

I see you didn't change your nickname.. Interesting.

There's a lot to do before I get familiarized in here
I'll take a good look before i decide to do any posting again!

Don't worry, if you need to type out something stupid/idiotic/random/extremely dumb/utterly nonsensical - the Random thoughts thread serves your needs.

so Megalodon, is it? I'll g catch one and feed you to it :D

We usually don't do anything this nasty again once you are properly initiated. But, exceptions are occasionally made..

Yes I noticed, rules are very fair and enough amount of formality is maintained while answering, conversely good and informal topics in GD are worth taking a look.:tongue2:

1. What is your background and research interests?

I have a degree in biology and have been conducting research in the field of genetics for the past five years. My main research interests include understanding the genetic basis of diseases and developing gene therapies.

2. Are you currently looking for collaborators or research partners?

Yes, I am always interested in collaborating with other scientists and researchers who share similar interests. Feel free to reach out to me and we can discuss potential projects.

3. How did you become interested in your field of research?

I have always been fascinated by the complexity of the human body and how genetics plays a crucial role in our health. This curiosity led me to pursue a career in genetics research.

4. What are your long-term career goals?

My ultimate goal is to make significant contributions to the field of genetics and help improve our understanding and treatment of genetic diseases. I also hope to mentor and inspire future generations of scientists.

5. What kind of friendships are you seeking through this platform?

I am looking to connect with other like-minded individuals who are passionate about science and research. I hope to form meaningful friendships and potentially collaborate on projects together.
