Does not receeding of galaxies decrease entropy

In summary, the conversation discussed the relationship between entropy and gravitational forces, and how this concept can be applied to explain the expansion of galaxies. The question of whether the expansion of a balloon, due to the evaporation of dry ice, represents a decrease in entropy was also raised.

Well,
First there arose a interesting question of how entropy increases when particles due to gravitation form huge mass.
I guess i read john baez's online page. Heat/energy so forth concept was applied to explain it.
Then, Taking its reverse, does not receeding of galaxies then decrease entropy if the same concept as above is applied?

If you place a piece of dry ice into a deflated ballon, it will evaporate and its molecules will press against the skin of the balloon causing it to inflate. The average distance between molecules will increase as the volume of the balloon increases. Does this represent a decrease in entropy from the original state [dry ice in the deflated balloon] of the system?

1. Does the non-receding of galaxies contradict the second law of thermodynamics?

No, the non-receding of galaxies does not contradict the second law of thermodynamics. The second law states that entropy, or disorder, increases over time in a closed system. This does not apply to the expansion of the universe, as it is not a closed system.

2. How does the expansion of the universe affect the entropy of galaxies?

The expansion of the universe does not directly affect the entropy of galaxies. However, it does affect the entropy of the entire universe by increasing it over time.

3. Can the non-receding of galaxies lead to a decrease in entropy?

No, the non-receding of galaxies cannot lead to a decrease in entropy. Entropy always increases over time, and the expansion of the universe contributes to this increase.

4. Is the non-receding of galaxies a result of the decrease in entropy?

No, the non-receding of galaxies is not a result of the decrease in entropy. The non-receding of galaxies is due to the expansion of the universe, which is a result of other factors such as dark energy.

5. How does the non-receding of galaxies relate to the arrow of time?

The non-receding of galaxies does not have a direct relationship with the arrow of time. The arrow of time refers to the asymmetry of time, where events only move in one direction. The expansion of the universe, including the non-receding of galaxies, is an example of this asymmetry, as it only moves forward in time.
