    Excited Ground
AI Thread Summary
Atoms A and C are in their ground states because their electron configurations are fully filled in order. Atom B is in an excited state due to the 5s sub-shell being partially filled, indicating that an electron has been promoted to a higher energy level. The discussion emphasizes the importance of understanding electron configurations to determine the state of an atom. Clarification is sought on the correctness of these assessments. Overall, the analysis of the electron configurations confirms the states of the atoms based on standard principles of quantum mechanics.

Homework Statement

State wether atom is in ground or excited state.

Homework Equations

A.1s22s22p3
B.1s22s22p63s23p64s23d104p55s24d7
C.1s22s22p63s23p64s23d6

The Attempt at a Solution

A. Ground because all are filled in order.
B.Excited because the 5s sub-shell isn't quite full.
C.Ground as all are filled in order.

Can someone check that i have this correct and if not please explain to me what I've done wrong. Thanks!

5s is full. But you are probably on the right track.

I don't get how to argue it. i can prove: evolution is the ability to adapt, whether it's progression or regression from some point of view, so if evolution is not constant then animal generations couldn`t stay alive for a big amount of time because when climate is changing this generations die. but they dont. so evolution is constant. but its not an argument, right? how to fing arguments when i only prove it.. analytically, i guess it called that (this is indirectly related to biology, im...
