Are real-time alerts boosting interaction on PF?

In summary, the conversation is about someone sending positive feedback on the new alerts feature. The person has been enjoying the updated alerts and even saw a new alert update while looking at the new alert popup dialog. They believe this feature will boost the pace of interaction on the platform. There is a question about how the alerts are pushed to the client, to which Greg responds that currently it requires a refresh but they may optimize it in the future to push alerts without a refresh.

Sending positive feedback on the new alerts. I've been enjoying extra smiles as I see Alerts update even as I sit back and watch. I even saw a new alert update when I was looking at the new alert popup dialog. Way cool and I expect this will be a great asset at boosting the pace of interaction here at PF.

EDIT: @Greg Bernhardt - Do you get to push the alerts to the client, or does the client have to send heartbeat checks, or does it depend on the platform/browser?

At the moment it requires a refresh. I can push the alert to yo without refresh but that takes more resources. Once we optimize things I might turn it on to see how the server handles it.
