Couple of interesting electrical things in an old house

In summary, common electrical issues found in old houses include outdated wiring, faulty outlets and switches, and inadequate grounding. These issues can be dangerous and should be addressed by a professional electrician. It is recommended to have old wiring inspected and upgraded as it may not be able to handle modern electrical demands and can pose a fire hazard. To determine if a house has aluminum wiring, one can check the electrical panel for labels and look for silver-colored wires and connections. The lifespan of an electrical panel can vary but generally lasts around 25-40 years. It is not recommended to do electrical repairs in an old house as it can be complex and should be handled by a licensed electrician with specialized knowledge and tools.

While cleaning out an old house I found this book. I have later (much) copies of this book that I often refer to. A little mouse chewed but nonetheless a nifty find. Was amused there is a chapter on knob and tube wiring.
