Hey guys

I just installed Windows 7 on my PC and it has Windows Media Centre bundled with it .

I also use an external T.V tuner card to watch T.V on my monitor ,i actually use an IPTV connection with a Set-Top box instead of a regular cable TV .Now with this set-up ,the set-top box is connected to the T.V tuner card's audio-video output port( the ones for connecting VHS,DVD players) and functions on the video mode only .

Now i was wondering if i could integrate my IPTV with computer and play T.V on the windows media center and use the available options in there like recording etc ..

Cheers

Yes, you can integrate your IPTV with your computer and play TV on Windows Media Center. To do this, you will need to connect the Set-Top box to your computer using an HDMI cable and then enable the "Media Center Extender" feature in Windows Media Center. This will allow you to access your IPTV through Windows Media Center. Additionally, you may also need to configure your IPTV settings in order for it to be compatible with Windows Media Center. Once you have done this, you should be able to use all the available options in Windows Media Center, such as recording, etc.

I would first like to commend you on your interest in integrating IPTV with Windows Media Centre. This can be a great way to enhance your TV viewing experience and take advantage of the features offered by both IPTV and Windows Media Centre.

To integrate IPTV with Windows Media Centre, you will need to follow a few steps. First, you will need to ensure that your IPTV set-top box is connected to your computer. This can usually be done using an HDMI or AV cable. Once the set-top box is connected, you will need to configure the TV tuner card in Windows Media Centre to recognize the IPTV signal. This can usually be done by selecting the "Set up TV signal" option in the settings menu of Windows Media Centre.

Next, you will need to scan for available channels using the TV tuner card. This will allow Windows Media Centre to detect the channels available through your IPTV connection. Once the scan is complete, you should be able to access and watch channels on your computer through Windows Media Centre.

Additionally, you may also be able to use the recording feature in Windows Media Centre to record your favorite shows from your IPTV connection. This can be a convenient way to save your favorite programs for later viewing.

Overall, integrating IPTV with Windows Media Centre can be a great way to enhance your TV viewing experience and take advantage of the features offered by both platforms. I hope this step-by-step guide has been helpful and wish you all the best in setting up your IPTV with Windows Media Centre.

1. What is a Media Centre?

A Media Centre is a multimedia device or software that allows users to access and manage different types of media, such as music, videos, and photos, in one central location. It often includes features such as streaming content, recording live TV, and organizing media libraries.

2. What is IPTV?

IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is a method of delivering television content through internet protocol networks. This allows users to access TV channels and on-demand content through their internet connection, rather than traditional cable or satellite services.

3. How does a Media Centre work with IPTV?

A Media Centre can be used as a platform to access and view IPTV content. Often, users can install IPTV apps or add-ons on their Media Centre to access a variety of live TV channels, on-demand content, and other features provided by IPTV providers.

4. What are the benefits of using a Media Centre and IPTV?

Using a Media Centre and IPTV can provide users with a wide range of benefits, including access to a large selection of TV channels and on-demand content, flexibility in choosing what to watch and when, and the convenience of having all media in one central location. It also allows for a more personalized viewing experience, with options to customize channels and content based on individual preferences.

5. Is a Media Centre and IPTV legal?

The use of Media Centre and IPTV services can be legal or illegal, depending on the content being accessed and the country in which it is being used. While some IPTV providers offer legitimate and licensed content, others may offer pirated or unauthorized content. It is important for users to research and use legal IPTV services to avoid any legal issues.
