In summary, the conversation is about finding a material with better properties than Duratherm 477 or MP35N for a specific pin application. The speaker suggests looking at catalogs from the makers or competitors of these materials to find a suitable alternative. They also mention the possibility of ordering a ready-made pin with the desired properties.

Hi,

Can anyone please let me know the list of materials that are advanced than Duratherm 477 or MP35N?

I have a small pin which should be made up of Duratherm or MP35N for a particular application. But the pin is bending when it is used in a assembly. There are lot of other reasons why it is bending but we came to a conclusion to change the material of the pin. So is there any nearest material which has slightly good or higher properties than these 2 materials?

Any other suggestions also will be of great help.

Thanks in advance for any help on this regards.

Welcome to the forum.

Can you get a catalog from the maker of the material you are using? Or possibly a competitor of that maker. Maybe Google is your friend here. Usually the maker of such material will have a range of materials with different properties. And you can look this up in the catalog. They will also likely have a range of shapes and sizes of objects. Maybe they have exactly the object you need as a standard item. You might be able to order it ready-made.

sounds like you want a higher modulus material, or at least a higher yield strength.

What is Duratherm 477 and MP35N?

Duratherm 477 and MP35N are two types of high-performance alloys commonly used in the manufacturing of medical devices and aerospace components.

What are the properties of Duratherm 477 and MP35N?

Duratherm 477 and MP35N are both known for their high strength, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility. They also have excellent heat and wear resistance, making them suitable for use in extreme environments.

What are the applications of Duratherm 477 and MP35N?

These alloys are often used in the medical field for surgical implants, dental implants, and other medical devices. They are also commonly used in aerospace applications, such as engine components, due to their high strength and resistance to extreme temperatures.

What are the differences between Duratherm 477 and MP35N?

Duratherm 477 is a cobalt-based alloy, while MP35N is a nickel-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy. MP35N has a higher tensile strength and better fatigue resistance compared to Duratherm 477. Additionally, MP35N is more ductile and easier to form into complex shapes.

Are there any precautions to take when working with Duratherm 477 and MP35N?

Yes, both Duratherm 477 and MP35N can release nickel and cobalt ions, which can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. Therefore, proper handling and protection measures should be taken when working with these alloys to avoid exposure.
