Electric flux through the surface of half a sphere?

Homework Statement Electric Field is given by E=(100i-200j+100k) N/C. What is the electric flux through the surface of half a sphere? (The surface is a hollow bowl open upwards, positive in the z direction, radius of 2). Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution Ive...

Help with setting up Integrals for volumes

Homework Statement Hi I am trying to find the volume of a shape.I don't need help to solve, but I would like a hand setting these integrals up. I've only recently started doing volumes, so bear with me. Using the curves: y=x x=2-y^2 y=0 Indicate the method used and set the...

Calculating the Centroid of x=2-(y^2) and the Y Axis

Homework Statement Easy question: Find the centroid of x=2-(y^2) and the y axis Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution Already calculated, I got an area of (4/3)(√2) Cx = 4/5 Cy = 0 When calculating Cx, in the book they have: Integral (x)(√(2-x)) And go...

Why is this limit not well defined?

    For -1 < (3 - x)/(x + 4) < 1. Should the signs be less than/equal to?

Why is this limit not well defined?

    Would it be correct to say it's not well defined because f(x) is not defined for x < -4? Because (3 - x)/(x + 4) -> -1 as x -> -infinity, its approaching from values that are less than -1. arccos[(3 - x)/(x + 4)] is only defined when -1 < (3 - x)/(x + 4) < 1. Does that seem correct?

Why is this limit not well defined?

Ah wait a sec, anything greater than x=1 is undefined. But you don't have to even worry about anything greater than 1, because its x > -infinity. Thats why i don't see how it is undefined.

Why is this limit not well defined?

So is it that inverse cosine that makes it not well defined? Because as you plug -ive x values in it goes to -infinity. Correct?

Why is this limit not well defined?

Im confused. I have never done a question like this one and it randomly asked it.

Why is this limit not well defined?

Lim x--> -Infinity cos^-1[(3-x)/(x+4)] Book says this limit is not well defined, why is that?

How do you go from (3w-1)/(w+2) and get: 3-(7/(w+2))?

This one is a bit trickier 1/[(u^2)(u-1)(u+1)] to get (1/2)/(u-1) - 1/(u^2) - (1/2)/(u+1) I tried doing it they way you just showed me but I get stuck.

How do you go from (3w-1)/(w+2) and get: 3-(7/(w+2))?

What about this one? 2x/((x+3)(x+1)) Simplified to 3/(x+3) - 1/(x+1) This is probably one of the harder parts of algebra for me for some reason. I don't understand the steps.

How to Integrate Cotangent and Cosecant with Odd Powers?

Describe the method you would use to integrate cot^a(x) csc^b(x) dx If a and b are odd? An explanation of the strategy would be a huge help!
