Easy question, I'm sure its something simple I'm overlooking

i can't think of anything to use that doesn't involve subtracting one instantaneous thing from another...area under the curve is the antiderivative, right? so that won't work...is there some kind of equation i should use?

Easy question, I'm sure its something simple I'm overlooking

Homework Statement The coordinate of an object is given as a function of time by x=4t^2-3t^3, where x is in meters and t is in seconds. Its average acceleration from t=0 to t=2s is: A) -4m/s^2 B) 4m/s^2 C) -10m/s^2 D) 10 m/s^2 E) -13 m/s^2 Homework Equations The Attempt at a...

Why Doesn't My Impulse-Change in Momentum Lab Show a Linear Relationship?

is my data just really off, or is there some calculation problem that I'm making?

Why Doesn't My Impulse-Change in Momentum Lab Show a Linear Relationship?

Sorry, it was a cart and track setup. |force sensor|--elastic-cord-----o|cart|o <[motion detector] We used a Vernier LabPro, and we found Impulse with the computer by finding the area under the curve on the graph. we pushed the cart away from the force sensor and it rebounded.

Why Doesn't My Impulse-Change in Momentum Lab Show a Linear Relationship?

Allright, I ran a best-fit line anyway and got a slope of 1.9 and a y intercept of -.23 The slope is supposed to be 1 and the y-int is supposed to be 0, since impulse=change in momentum. I would understand if there were a small error, but 1.9 is way off. I switched axises (axes?) and got a...

Why Doesn't My Impulse-Change in Momentum Lab Show a Linear Relationship?

Homework Statement Im doing an impulse-change in momentum lab, and somethings not adding up. My data is as follows: Trial Vmin Vmax Mass Impulse 1 -.6447 .5766 .548 .9952 2 -.9044 .7803 .598...

Programs Dual Degree Program: Physics and Mechanical Engineering

The school I'm considering has a program called BPPME, that offers a Bachelors in Physics and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering in as little as 5 years (I'll probably do 6 years because it's cheap and I usually need a little more time to fully grasp some concepts)...does this sound worth it...

Simple Spring Constant Lab not adding up

i know, that's the problem. i have no idea why my constants are so small. here, the original data collected was: 5g 10g 20g 30g 50g 0.6cm 1.9 3.5 5.5 9.0 i divided all the grams by 1000 to get the weight in kilos, then multiplied them by 9.8 to get the mass in Newton. i divided...

Simple Spring Constant Lab not adding up

right, i meant meters...not kilograms. typo. as far as the y intercept being off, i set it equal to zero, so the original length would be zero. besides, those are millimeters, and there's something big wrong with the calculations...
