Component forces on angle bracket
Homework Statement See photo attachment Homework EquationsThe Attempt at a Solution Ive begun by defining an x and y axis, followed by find the sum of x-components of the forces, and y-components. Followed by the magnitude of the resultant force. The only method i could think of was to find...- AviationFanBoy

Undergrad Where can i get more info on this formula? (trailer towing force)
I need to use this formula for a physics prac (my dad an engineer told me it). F = Weight (normal) x friction coefficient x diatmer of axle)/diamter of wheel x4 cause the trailer has 4 wheels. Can anybody point me towards a source of info on it, in particular the derivation. I use it to...- AviationFanBoy

High School Measuring Tension Between Train Carriages
Im aware of that. But how do i then put use that to calculate the tension force acting. Also, the prac was changed from two carriages to just one bigger one. I threw all the data, from the actual tension measurments from the prac in excel. And my dad (an engineer) gave me the following formula...- AviationFanBoy

High School Measuring Tension Between Train Carriages
Sorry, I am from Australia so I am not quite sure what should be known and not known at my level in the US. Typically with this type of question, where given an acceleration in which we can then solve the net force and subsequently solve the tension force. Thats the way i would normally approach...- AviationFanBoy

High School Measuring Tension Between Train Carriages
Im doing a prac for school that we have to create ourselves. My groups prac goes along the line of a train pulling two carriages. Our train is a LEGO NXT unit that runs at a constant velocity, no acceleration. We will have two force gauges between each carriage and the carriage and the train and...- AviationFanBoy

Quick Motion Question - Rejogging memory after a while.
Yes, i know them. How are they linked though. I reliaze he accelerates at different rates from 0 to 10 then 10 to 15 seconds. Hence why I said, After 15 seconds he is traveling at 100 km/hr and has traveled 360m. As for the first 10 seconds he covers 222m as he is traveling at 80km/hr, and for...- AviationFanBoy

Quick Motion Question - Rejogging memory after a while.
Sorry, he covers 416 meters in the 15 seconds. As 100/3.6 = 27.8 x15 = ~416m.- AviationFanBoy

Quick Motion Question - Rejogging memory after a while.
After 15 seconds he is traveling at 100 km/hr and has traveled 360m. As for the first 10 seconds he covers 222m as he is traveling at 80km/hr, and for the next 5 seconds he travels at 100km/hr covering 138m thus after 15 secs the cop is 360meters from the starting position.- AviationFanBoy

Quick Motion Question - Rejogging memory after a while.
333m. As 80km/hr = 22m/s (80/3.6) = 22m/s. Thus, 15 secs = 333.3 (infinite) meters.- AviationFanBoy

Quick Motion Question - Rejogging memory after a while.
Homework Statement A car traveling with a constant speed of 80km/hr passes a stationary motorcycle policeman. The policeman sets off in pursuit, accelerating uniformly to 80km/hr in 10 seconds and reaching a constant speed of 100km/hr in a further 5 secs. At what time will the policeman catch...- AviationFanBoy
