    Elimination reactions of Haloalkanes. Help

Hi, I was doing a question on elimination reactions of haloalkanes. Could someone help me out? The question: "3-Bromo-3methylhexane rapidly undergoes elimination when boiled with ethanolic potassium hydroxide. Write the structures of the FIVE alkenes which might be formed, & name them."...

Calculating Proportion of Radioactive DNA After Replication

I did the math! At then end of the third replication sequence, you get 8 DNA molecules...of which two strands are radioactive. So naturally you'd expect 2/8th (1/4th) of the final mass of the DNA to be radioactive.

Hmm...what do you think is the answer then?

Calculating Proportion of Radioactive DNA After Replication

Hi, I was doing this question & I just want to make sure I've got it correct: A quantity of DNA was labelled with radioactive nitrogen. It was then allowed to replicate three times using non radioactive to synthesise the new DNA strands. What proportion of the final mass of DNA would you...

Welcome! Let's Discuss: Block on Water Surface

Hello all, Its my first thread here! I'll start things off with a (simple?) question. Suppose a block is suspended on a surface of water. It comprises potential energy quite obviously. As the block desends down the water level, it loses PE. According to the rules of conservation of energy...
