What causes faster airflow over an airfoil compared to its underside?

Remember a super critical airfoil have flattend upper surface and curved aft surface. This is because, a supersonic flow accelerates in divergent zone and decelerates in convg zone of CONVG-DIVG nozzle.

What causes faster airflow over an airfoil compared to its underside?

Sorry that i am re-entering this zone after a long time. Firstly, kutta condition is not a cause for air flowing at a greater speed over the airfoil. It is an effect of it. The cause comes from the fact that airfoil in air, behaves like half venturi tube, which can explain all the features of...

What is the Relationship Between Weight and Wing Loading in Aerodynamics?

This is one of the common question in aerodynamics. Kindly help me solving this, if possible with theory suppourting the solution. If u are aware of any site possessing a solution for this kind of problem, do let me know.

What is the Relationship Between Weight and Wing Loading in Aerodynamics?

Homework Statement a) The weight of the aircraft = 4000 N b) Wing loading of the aircraft = 65N per sq m c) Find the minimum drag, maximum lift to drag ratio and the minimum drag speed at sea level Homework Equations...

Can any one explain how to draw a leading edge circle of an aerofoil.

Thanx for trying to help me...but i still have a doubt, where will one plot the center and draw the leading edge circle. !

What causes faster airflow over an airfoil compared to its underside?

Kutta condition states that the circulation over an aerofoil is such that the rear stagnation point is at trailing edge. Movement of stagnation point from above the aerofoil surface to the trailing edge is accompanied by STARTING VORTEX. This no way explains why air should move faster to...

What causes faster airflow over an airfoil compared to its underside?

Kutta condition just explains CIRCULATION. It expalins the position of the rear stagnation point, it does not explain the velocity profile of air on an erofoil. Kutta also expalins the reason for starting vortices. To the best of my knowledge, it no where comes close to explain velocity profile

What causes faster airflow over an airfoil compared to its underside?

The upper surface of the aerofoil must be viewed as half-venturi-tube. thus, the point where maximum thickness of aerofoil exists, it behaves as the throat of a venturi tube. here, Velocity is max and pressure is min. When flow comes out of throat and flows towards the trailing edge, where the...

Understanding the Benefits of Reflexed Trailing Edge for Aerofoil Stability

Hi james, This is not my home work question. I am an aeronautical engineering, i am appearing for my exams for FTE( Flight Test Engineer) this feb. I just wanted my basics to be strong. If possible.. help me in explaining how reflexed and convexed lower surface restrict the movement of...

Understanding the Benefits of Reflexed Trailing Edge for Aerofoil Stability

What is the advantage of having reflexed trailing edge. How does it improve the stability of the aerofoil. Reflexed wing are generally used in tailess planes. Can anyone explain to me...with proper pressure distribution details. What i know about it is... Reflexed trailing edge and convexed...
