A ball struck by a cue in billiards with English goes straight at first....

New thought just occurred to me the circumference of the cue tips are generally the same as either a dime or nickle. When i used the cue ball tip it has the same circumference as the balls. If I lined the center of the cue ball to the contact point the ball would not hit the contact point it...

A ball struck by a cue in billiards with English goes straight at first....

I think we may find out that it is a combination of friction and mass. After I use the cored out ball i can put some chalked felt or maybe leather at impact point. That should give same results as hitting with chalked cue tip.

A ball struck by a cue in billiards with English goes straight at first....

I have a better way to test this which will remove any potential human error. I am going to take a ball and core it out to reduce its mass, we will see what happens when the object ball is struck by a ball identical in every way except its weight. This may take me a day or so i will post video...

A ball struck by a cue in billiards with English goes straight at first....

Yep here's the cue ball i used. The ball is splitting the angle from the natural to parrallel to the cue very consistently. Phenolic tip i think is a little softer than the stone balls but i do not have anything to test that.

A ball struck by a cue in billiards with English goes straight at first....

Above are links to videos showing results of the experiment. Made a tip out of a cue ball, was not able to put anymore than a tip of english on the ball or i would miscue. Was not able to get spin on the ball due to lack of friction but the angle of travel was really consistent.

We will not be able to put anything more than a tip of english for sure bu

Seebeck generator from placing water heater next to freezer

I am not suggesting a perpetuum mobile, i am asking more about conservation of energy. Since one thing is allready hot the other cold couldn't we conserve some of that energy and give it back to grid?

Seebeck generator from placing water heater next to freezer

Water heater is set at 130 degree f freezer is 5 degrees f. Is it possible for a thermoelectric generator to collect energy from these placed side by side? Would the extra energy used by the heater and freezer due to the presence of the generator cancel out and then some any energy that could...

Is generating electricity from rain water efficient?

I think the rain gutter generators would be useful for "off the grid" households. Solar and wind are already popular I thought why not rain gutter/grey water pipe generators. I have had this idea for a decade or so thought it was time to share it.

Is generating electricity from rain water efficient?

From small generators attached to the gutters of your house to large ones in the storm sewers, is it efficient enough to make the effort?

I How do we know we are looking back in time in space?

I do understand that all speed Thanks I do understand what you are saying, my main concern is that we are doing these experiments and making calculations bound by time within our 4-dimensions. Analogy: It would be like living in a two dimensional world and trying to understand a sphere by...

A ball struck by a cue in billiards with English goes straight at first....

I will work on one. Going to have to make tip and apply it to an old shaft may take a few days. Until then you can search for using a phenolic tip. These are the lowest friction tips on the market. They were designed for breaking and jumping but a good practitioner can impart english to the...

A ball struck by a cue in billiards with English goes straight at first....

Put a tip on the cue made of the same material as the balls and as long as the weight of the tip is less than the object ball, i guarantee you the ball will still follow the almost straight direction. It is not due to friction. As a matter of fact the harder the tip the straighter the ball...

I How do we know we are looking back in time in space?

This makes sense to me. For me it just gets a little hard for me to understand attributing age to a photon from our prospective, when the photon itself transcends time. I can completely understand how approaching light speed would slow down time for the traveler but I am wondering if something...
