Calculating Equilibrium Concentrations of H+ and HSO3 in SO2-Rainwater Reaction

I solved for x and still don't get it right. I got the pressure of SO2 to be 5,6e-5 atm from the information I got. Used P=nRT/V Since SO2 is 0,16 ppm it must be 0,16 mg in one liter I assume STP conditions. And I got the MW of SO2 to be 64,07 g/mol Am I wrong?

Calculating Equilibrium Concentrations of H+ and HSO3 in SO2-Rainwater Reaction

OK. I treated them as to be the same conc. But how can I get the pressure of SO2?

Calculating Equilibrium Concentrations of H+ and HSO3 in SO2-Rainwater Reaction

Hi, can someone please give me a hint to this problem? The concentration of SO2 in the troposphere over a certain region is 0,16 ppm by volume. The gas dissolves in rainwater as follows: SO2(g) + H2O(l) >> H+(aq) + HSO-3(aq) Given that the equilibrium constant for the preceding reaction is...

Calculating Total Mass of Nitrogen in Atmosphere

Thanks Daniel. I did what you told me, if I got it right I still didn't get the right answear. Calculated the density of air and N2 in STP multiplied by 100 and 78.03 respectively. the difference was about 0.5 something. multiplied with the mass of air whis is 5,266e18 Kg. Should get 3,96e18 Kg...

Calculating Total Mass of Nitrogen in Atmosphere

Hi. Can someone give me a hint to how to calculate total mass of nitrogen in the atmosphere. I've calculated the mass of all the atmosphere, I got the percent by volume of nitrogen to be 78.03 %. I converted the mass of the atmosphere to Liters. I got the volume of nitrogen to be 3.18e21 L and...

Calculate pH of 2.0e-8M NaOH in Water

there are 2.0e-8 M NaOH in water. I have to calculate the pH of the solution considering the OH from the water. The answear to this is pH=7.04 I know this is calculated with the quadratic equation. what I don't get is how to set this up. I alway get a wrong answear. Can somone help me with this?

Finding Unit Vectors for Angle of pi/3 in R3

O.K I figured out that the angle between the given vectors is 60 degrees or pi/3 The angle between the unit vectors and each of the given vectors is supposed to be pi/3 also. So I used the dot product to calculate c=sqrt(2) since the unitvector has length 1 and both the given vectors have...
