Engineering Project: Flood Resistant Terminal w/ Water Driven Propellor

Okay sorry I didn't explain the no force part well, when the pontoon is getting pushed by the floodwaters, tremendous pressure is forced against its pilings which stop any horizontal motion, however if you were to put a motor on the back it could counter some of that force to release stress...

Engineering Project: Flood Resistant Terminal w/ Water Driven Propellor

Well during a flood event the river in which the pontoon is being designed for, reches velocities between 2.5-3.5 m/s, so if horizontal is parallel to the riverbank then yes but not really waves, more the water body itself traveling down the river

Engineering Project: Flood Resistant Terminal w/ Water Driven Propellor

Hey everyone, For my engineering project I am designing a Flood Resistant Terminal and just wondering if you guys reckon it would be possible to create a propellor that creates thrust to minimise the force exerted on the pontoon by the water. The only way I could think to be able to create it...

Find where and when the trajectory angle is 10 degrees?

Hahaha wow that's even simpler, haha i guess it saves messing around with the path equation then, thanks heaps :)

Find where and when the trajectory angle is 10 degrees?

Okay thanks, that makes a lot of sense actually. Haha thanks for your help :)

Find where and when the trajectory angle is 10 degrees?

Homework Statement Okay, this is a projectile motion problem(No Drag) where a rock is thrown as 35m/s at an angle of 48 degrees. The question that I am struggling with is: "Find where and when the trajectory angle is 10 degrees?" Homework Equations The Equation that my teacher was used...

Specific Heat: Bond or Freedom of Degree Based, Or Size?

Specific Heat: Bond or Freedom of Degree Based, Or Size?? Okay so I've been trying to understand what causes one substance to have a higher specific heat then other but I've read quite a few conflicting sources in which one says its due to the freedom of degree, while another says the weight of...

Thermal Equilibrium between a Hot and Cold Body

Just a quick question relating to thermal equilibrium between a hot and cold body. If a hot body and cold (closed systems) are opened up to each other, the thermal energy will be transfer from the hot body to cold body through conduction. So even when thermal equilibrium is reached, the...

How Are Energy and Work Interconnected in Thermodynamics?

ohhh okay thanks i understand that now, thanks heaps :)

How Are Energy and Work Interconnected in Thermodynamics?

hahah yeah thanks i was meaning the thermodynamics definition sorry, okay thanks but when you say "other then heat energy", is that because thermal energy itself is just kinetic energy?

How Are Energy and Work Interconnected in Thermodynamics?

Okay i know that energy is the ability or capacity to do work. But how do you define work, as like the isn't work just the transference of energy in one form to another? Which is kinda circular reasoning. Like the rely on each other for a defintion. Is that right?

Can Electric Cars Convert Kinetic Energy Back into Electrical Energy?

So the act of using the rotational force of an axle like generator slows it down? What about if they were to channel air through a car and use the force and pressure of the air to spin a generator would they be able to recover the kinetic energy spent in moving the car forward and gather it up...

Can Electric Cars Convert Kinetic Energy Back into Electrical Energy?

Just out of curiosity, electric cars produce movement through converting electrical energy into kinetic via magnetic field and magnets, etc; would it not be possible to convert the kinetic energy back into electrical energy while the car is moving. I know the Law of Conservation of Energy says...

Why are neutron rich isotopes unstable

hahaha okay i understand why too many neutrons cause instability now and thanks for for mention of the nuclear shell model, ill see if i can apply that as well. Thanks heaps :)

Why are neutron rich isotopes unstable

Ive been researching for a while now and i still can't understand why neutrons rich isotopes are unstable. As neutrons act like the glue and hold protons together as they increase the Strong Nuclear force that act upon protons and neutrons, i thought the more neutrons the stronger they would...
