Solving a Parabolic Bowl Oscillation Problem
i guess the crux of my argument is whether the area under the v(x) curve can be used in this manner, comments?- jderm

Solving a Parabolic Bowl Oscillation Problem
Homework Statement Consider a particle moving back and forth on a frictionless parabolic bowl, y = ax2, where a = 1.460 m-1 If the particle is released from rest at the point on the bowl at b = 0.43 m, find the period of the oscillations. I have an equation for velocity(as a function of...- jderm

What is the Relativity of Velocities Formula?
Found my error. since the ships are approaching each other, the equation was u=\frac{v-u'}{1-\frac{u'v}{c^{2}}} then substituting -v = u \frac{u'u^{2}}{c^{2}}+u'+2u=0 which yields the correct answer of 1.8326x108 m/s- jderm

What is the Relativity of Velocities Formula?
Homework Statement Two spaceships approach each other, each moving with the same speed as measured by an observer on the Earth. If their relative speed is 0.89c, what is the speed of each spaceship as measured on Earth? Homework Equations u=\frac{u'+v}{1+u'v/c^2} 3. My work so ship A...- jderm

What is the kinetic energy distribution given the probability distribution?
Homework Statement Supose that a traffic study measures the speed at which people drive on the highway, and determines that the situation is well modeled by the probability distribution P(v)=Cv4e-v/vo. (a) If we are to measure speeds in mph, give the appropriate units for C and vo. (b) In...- jderm

Magnetic Field inside Solenoid and EMF
A small loop of area A is placed inside a long solenoid that has n turns per meter and carries a sinusoidally varying current of amplitude i. The central axes of the loop and solenoid coincide. If i = i0sin ωt, find the emf in the loop. EMFinduced = - d(\phiB)/ dt \phiB=BA Bsolenoid=...- jderm

Review of 2008 AP Physics C E&M Free Response | Student's Perspective
if part c is asking for a graph of E as a function of r, from origin to a =zero from a to b =zero from b to c =zero from c to d decreasing 1/r^2 this is the only thing i can conclude based on the field within a charged sphere being equal to zero- jderm
