Separation of water from air at high temperature

Watching ABC1 TV Science Doco [Catalyst] just last week, I will try to sum up:- By observing the incredible marvels of nature (o:)Praise God), have you noticed how beetles and other insects are always squeaky clean in a dusty, dirty and muddy environment? Having a close look at the surface...

How is hail formed in thunderclouds?

Thanks Gentlemen for your input to this thread. My original post was purely speculative. I read the wiki link thanks Drakkith. I agree with the general science there, but could not find anything to definitely negate the possibillity that the raindrops can be formed instantly into hail either...

How is hail formed in thunderclouds?

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen Watching an episode of Mythbusters a couple of weeks ago, . . it just hit me .. maybe this is how ice is formed in clouds. You have a supercooled bottle of waterbased liquid. You strike a blow to the bottle and watch the liquid turn instanly into ice. Is not it...

Longitudinal vibrations in solid metal rods

Depends on the scenario. A long thin piece of metel - Yes - point of contact = node. But short strong piece of metel - No. Proof: hold a metel punch tool with your bare hands and hit it hard with a hammer! OUCH! It really hurts. The transverse forces go into your fingers.

Find Center of Gravity of 3D Objects to Balance in Water

Are you sure it is not the gyro effect of the propeller that is tilting the boat and causing it to turn? It may already be perfectly balanced?

Forces acting on pipe submerged in drying cement

Pretty sure there is negligible contratction during the curing process. Also with temperature change, the expansion and contraction coefficients of concrete are very similar to steel, and would not usually present a problem to plastic pipes. I have observed that copper pipes are usually wrapped...

Two men want to carry a wooden beam weighing 200

I would not refer to torque at all when solving this problem, or moments of inertia. It is a simple matter of segmentation. One fellow wants to lift 50% more than the other. So use ratios. Break it down to simple whole numbers. One fellow carries 2 apples - the stronger fella carries 3 apples -...

Water on Moon: How Can Ice Survive for Billions of Yrs?

Can someone tell us a bit more about the characteristics of solar wind on the moon. If you witnessed a puff of smoke or vapour - would the solar wind actually grab that and accelarate it in a direction away from the sun - in an appreciable manner? like an observable movement? Thanks

Understanding Left/Right Hand Rule and Finding North/South in Currents

Hi Soph Thanks for giving me the opportunity to try and explain this. I am only a novice at electromagetics, but I have just recently gone over the same ground of questioning that you have raised in this question ... so here we go... can I do this?? Say your right hand is out in front of...

Water on Moon: How Can Ice Survive for Billions of Yrs?

Two things come to mind. I hypothesize that: There is no wind on the moon so the evaporated water would not blow away. There is microgravity on the moon - so the water would fall back down and condense back into the water. ... ??

Bicycling on the Moon: Gravity's Effects on Bicycle Stability

True you are Danger. My apologies for not picking up the definition earlier in the thread about the difference between Zero and effective zero.

Bicycling on the Moon: Gravity's Effects on Bicycle Stability

Could'nt you theorize that there are moving points in space that contain zero gravity ?? - like a certain point between the Earth and the sun. Few years ago I did sums to work out that point - but then forgot that it would be in orbit - so I would need some fancy calculus to get a final answer

Bicycling on the Moon: Gravity's Effects on Bicycle Stability

You may not be able to exert as much power on the pedals in low gravity. If you had good traction you would be more likely to "pop a wheelie", or just skid your wheels. Just as you could not put all your power into swinging sledge hammer like here on earth, because your feet would not be planted...

New idea -needs feed-back. A gas separator.

I understand that the purity of the H2 varies with the type and quality of the electrolyzer. Some of the more rudimentry electrolyzers output H2 at around 92% purity. In an open volume space (a drum without sand in it) convection would stop the complete separation of the gases. Even with...

New idea -needs feed-back. A gas separator.

If anyone know of a more appropriate forum where I can post similar queries? - please let me know. Thanks. I did google "inventors forums" once, but come up with disappointing results. Guess I have to search longer and harder. Thanks anyway.
