How do I find the constants A, B, and C for this differential equation?

Excellent, yeah I just went back and subbed into my formula the answers I just got: - 2Ax^2 + (2A-2B)x + (2A-2C+B) = x^2 Which ends up equaling x^2 on both sides, so the identity must be true.

How do I find the constants A, B, and C for this differential equation?

OHHH alright! Thank you so much both of you. That last explanation I think helped the most. I knew it could not be a hardship to figure it out but I made it seem harder than it should be. The keywords that helped me the most was "equate like terms" which I know is what neutrino was trying to...

How do I find the constants A, B, and C for this differential equation?

Hmmm I must not be seeing the logic behind this at all, and usually I would. Maybe I'm just having an off day or something. 12 years of schooling and 1 year of University is failing me today. The only thing I can think of would be that you are moving the right hand side over and subtracting it...

How do I find the constants A, B, and C for this differential equation?

Well the coefficients on the left hand side if we were to rearrange it to -2Ax^2 + (2A-2B)x + (2A-2C+B) would be -2, 1, 1 which in a way is kind of similar to the equation: -2x^2 + x+ 1 which is a polynomial. However, I'm not too sure if I should be moving the x^2 term from the right hand...

How do I find the constants A, B, and C for this differential equation?

    Homework Statement Find constants A, B, and C such that the function y = Ax^2+Bx+C satisfies the differential equation y''+y'-2y=x^2 2. The attempt at a solution d/dx (y) = d/dx (Ax^2+Bx+C) = 2Ax+B y' = 2Ax+B d/dx (y') = d/dx (2Ax+B) = 2A y'' = 2A Now subbing back into the...

Calculate [Ag+] in Test Solution with Nernst Eq. (Chem 102 Lab)

Ahhh okay, yeah I'm not sure why I said 1, it clearly is n=2 for the number of electrons being traded. That makes a bit more sense. Thank you for your help. My only other question is whether or not I got the standard cell potentials right from the chemistry data sheet. Because I know that...

Calculate [Ag+] in Test Solution with Nernst Eq. (Chem 102 Lab)

Homework Statement The question asks: Using the measured cell potential and the Nernst equation, calculate the [Ag+] in the test solution. However, you guys will need a little bit of background information to answer this question since it is a lab. First of all this reaction was: Ag2CO3(s)...

Stats151: Graph & Describe Guinea Pig Survival Time Distribution

Yeah you've been a great help Sara. I get the picture, I realize my mistake in the stem and leaf plot too and fixed that up. I just wasn't thinking when I was doing that apparently because you are to split each number in half as you showed. Hahaha oops! Also I figured out that 2nd question as...

Stats151: Graph & Describe Guinea Pig Survival Time Distribution

Hahaha alrighty thanks a lot sara. :D You've been a big help. Otherwise I would have still been screwing around with the stemplot of the distribution. I'm sorry but I have another question here I'm working on that is bugging me. It asks: Conservationists have despaired over destruction of...

Stats151: Graph & Describe Guinea Pig Survival Time Distribution

Yeah I'm pretty sure I figured it out. I followed the steps for making a histogram, but used the class intervals from 0 to 100, 100 to 200, etc. etc. because 40 to 60, 60 to 80, etc would have taken forever. But the distribution is skewed to the right, the spread is from 43 to 598. And in this...

Stats151: Graph & Describe Guinea Pig Survival Time Distribution

Homework Statement The following table gives the survival time in days of 72 guinea pigs after they were injected with tubercle bacilli in a medical experiment. Make a suitable graph and describe the shape, center and spread of the distribution of survival times. Are there any outliers...

How Does the Rate Law Indicate Reaction Mechanism Complexity?

Ahh I see what you are saying, yeah it's just rate=k[S2O8^2-][I^-]^2 And my rate law does not coincide with this, therefore it cannot be a single-step mechanism. Gotcha! Thanks.

How Does the Rate Law Indicate Reaction Mechanism Complexity?

"The Rate Law" in Chemistry Hey I've just been working on a chemistry lab lately in my chemistry course, and one of the problems on the lab write-up asks to: Write the rate law for the following reaction, if it were to occur through a single-step mechanism. 2I^-(aq) + S2O8^2-(aq) ->...
