    Simplifying surds as numerators

Hi, I was reading about surds and saw this: [PLAIN]http://www.mattvonfat.com/eq.png I'm probably not as familiar with simplifying fractions as I should be but I think I get that it's being split into two fractions and that √3/2 is the same as 1/2*√3 but I don't understand what's...

Combining Vectors: Calculate Resultant | Matthew vonFat

It's not exactly homework as it's a progress check question in a home learning course but I think this is the best place for it. Homework Statement The question I have is: Calculate the resultant of the two vectors shown: [PLAIN]http://www.mattvonfat.com/question.png The...

This is what these symbols mean in physics.

Hi, I'm doing a physics home study course and in the text it says: It hasn't mentioned what the symbols Ø and ∆ mean before so I figure it's something I was expected to have known. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out with this. Thanks, Matt

    Generating Electricity: Understanding the Basics

Hi, I saw a TV program where a guy made a hand powered electric generator thing, where a magnet is spun inside of many coils of wire. I remebered from high school physics doing this and started wondering why you can't feed the elecricty you produce into a motor to spin the magnet for you...

Understanding Voltage: Does Each Wire Carry 5v or Split to 2.5v? | Matthew Leek

Thanks very much, that's really helpful! I'll go looking for DC relays now. I'll have to save my gates for sometime in the future. Thanks, Matthew

Understanding Voltage: Does Each Wire Carry 5v or Split to 2.5v? | Matthew Leek

Ah. I was assuming that as 3v was going in (i originally thought through the input) that was what would come out. I probably shouldn't be doing stuff like this until I have a better knowledge of the more basic things. If you don't mind me asking, is there a way to only have power from the...

Understanding Voltage: Does Each Wire Carry 5v or Split to 2.5v? | Matthew Leek

Ok. I'll explain a bit better. Here's a poor drawing of the circuit: http://www.leeksoftware.co.uk/D.bmp The AND logic gate needs 3v to work though. So If I was to have another wire coming from the battery into the AND gate would it be supplying 3v to the AND gate or would it be...

Understanding Voltage: Does Each Wire Carry 5v or Split to 2.5v? | Matthew Leek

Hi, If you have a power source (for example 5v) and you have two wires coming off it would each wire be carrying 5v or does the volatge get split between them and give you only 2.5v on each? Thanks Matthew Leek
