Power in delevering electricity to a factory

A power station delivers 513kW of power to a factory through wires of total resistance of 2.72Ohm. How much less power is wasted if the electricity is delivered at 45200V rather than 13900V? I have no idea where to even begin except that I should find the intial current which is found by...

    Easy problem still wrong answer

How much work is needed to move a proton from a point with a potential of +630V to a point where it is -60.0V? Ok so wouldn't I just use the equation: (Va-Vb)=Wba/q (-60-630)=Wba/(1.6 x 10^-19) Wba=-1.104 x 10^-16 J

Physics of Indiana Jones rope swing

Ok so this is what I've done and I am not gettingthe problem right still... I did T = 2pi (square root of L/g) I took that T/2 = 5.5875 Then i set up this equation 5.5875/1.290 = 18/x Then I solve for x and subtract the x from the theta given. I'm not sure what i"m doing wrong!

Physics of Indiana Jones rope swing

Indiana Jones! My physics class had this problem for our homework set this week and nobody has figured it out. We asked for help from our TAs today and they didn't know how to help us either. If someone could look at this problem and tell me what they think I would really appreciate it...

How Does Adding Mass Affect the Angular Velocity of a Merry-Go-Round?

A 5.4m diameter merry-go-round is rotating freely with an angular velocity of 0.730 rad/s. Its total moment of inertia is 1665kg*m2. Four people standing on the ground, each of mass 60.8kg, suddenly step onto the edge of the merry-go-round. What is the angular velocity of the merry-go-round now...

Distance traveled by block attached to cylinder

i understand that you should find the distances of each time and subtract to find the distance traveled within that time but I don't understand how to find the velocity because the equation to find displacement requires aninitial velocity.

Distance traveled by block attached to cylinder

Ok so i found the angular accleration when the block of the mass is attached to the cylinder to be 70.03 when the mass weighs .47 kg. But i am having trouble finding the distance it has traveled from 0.51 s to .71 s assuming that at 0s the motion has begun. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Angular Acceleration of a Cyclist's Wheels: 54 Rev in 10.0 s

A cyclist starts from rest and pedals such that the wheels of his bike have a constant angular acceleration. After 10.0 s, the wheels have made 54 rev. What is the angular acceleration of the wheels? Use units of "rad/s\^{}2". If the radius of the wheel is 36.0 cm, and the wheel rolls without...

    Angular Acceleration Problem/ Solid Cylinder

    1) A solid cylinder of mass M = 1.14 kg and radius R = 6.3 cm pivots on a thin, fixed, frictionless bearing (see Figure). A string wrapped around the cylinder pulls downward with a force F = 4.606 N. What is the magnitude of the angular acceleration of the cylinder? Use units of "rad/s\^{}2"...
