Atwood Lab Homework: Analyze, Experiment & Report

ok so I set up torque equations at different points starting from right to left of the diagram. starting at mass M1 1) T4-m1g=m1a At the pulley connected to M1 2)-T4(r) + T3 (r) = (1/2 Mr^2)(a/r) At the second pulley 3) -T2(r)+T1(r) = (1/2 Mr^2)(a/r) then at m2 T1-m2g = m2a Now The...

Atwood Lab Homework: Analyze, Experiment & Report

Homework Statement So I have this lab and I have no idea how to come about doing this. An Atwood machine consisting of two massless pulleys (one smart pulley without friction and one pulley with friction) and hanging masses will be provided, as shown in the diagram below. you will be given...

Why would the car move forward after being hit

I get it, so at the point where vehicle 2 stops, that is when vehicle 1 is on the grass. Since the coefficient of friction of the grass is much lower, that is why he stops 5 feet after =D

Why would the car move forward after being hit

Well I'm the friction is what stops the cars but I don't see how friction makes the other car go another 5 feet...

Why would the car move forward after being hit

http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt92/o0griff0o/crashcar.png Hopefully this works The scenerio is somone is driving east from west towards an intersection. Another person is driving from from North 20 degrees west towards the intesection. And they both collide.

Why would the car move forward after being hit

Or Maybe does inertia of after the two cars seperating make sense?

Why would the car move forward after being hit

Homework Statement Explain why vehicle 1 traveled 5 ft further than vehicle 2 before coming to rest. Would you have expected it to come to rest at the same time as vehicle 2? Why or why not? Mass of vehicle 1 = 1406.13 kg mass of vehicle 2= 1950.45 kg Homework Equations Newtons third...
