I'm emailing other places to see what the status of my application is, since I need to decide by Friday. I was waitlisted at Duke, number 2 on the wait list for HEP at CERN (SO CLOSE!) and LSU emailed me back to say that they've sent out first round offers and to not count on an offer from them.- Oods

Programs 2018 REU and Summer Program Acceptance Thread
I think the best programming language depends on your specialty. In nuclear particle physics I’ve mostly seen C++, because CERN built their data analysis framework (ROOT) and their detector simulation framework (Geant) around C++. It’s also good to learn because it’s object oriented.- Oods
