Schools Grad School Mechanical Engineering Programs
What are some decent grad schools for mechanical engineers without a perfect GPA? I would like to start researching my options but I really have no idea where to start- rmunoz

Schools General Questions about Grad School Sciences
thanks for the input. What I would really like to do is study computational fluid dynamics... but honestly i don't know enough about the field to say that with confidence.- rmunoz

Schools BA in Physics, want to go to Grad school. Suggestions?
I didn't think it was possible for a program to get accredited without at least offering classical mechanics and basic E&M?- rmunoz

On a lifelong search for the best writing utensils
Just bought a pentel p205. I got it because I really liked feel of similar pentel mechanical pencils but I also wanted something a little more precise and evenly weighted. Hopefully it will live up to the price (between 5-10 for 2)- rmunoz

Schools General Questions about Grad School Sciences
I guess I wasn't specific enough... I'm looking to do research in thermal sciences. From what I understand, mechanical engineering is about as close as you can get to that study at the undergraduate level. So let me rephrase my question... assuming that I have the prerequisite courses necessary...- rmunoz

Schools General Questions about Grad School Sciences
I am a junior at Gonzaga University, I have a 3.25 gpa as a Mechanical Engineer. I switched majors from business to mechanical engineering 2nd semester freshman year without having taken any calculus courses in HS or really any idea what I was getting into. I am still on track to graduate in 4...- rmunoz

Charged Point Mass in a Constant Electric Field
I believe i have made quite a bit of progress since the first post but perhaps someone could help by checking over my work. c) *For Finding T with respect to the other quantities: T= (mg - E(sin(phi))/(cos(theta)) and T= (Ecos(phi))/(sin(theta)) * the magnitude of the force acting on the...- rmunoz

Charged Point Mass in a Constant Electric Field
Homework Statement A point particle with mass m and charge q is suspended from a fixed point by a massless thread of length\ell. This thread makes an angle of \theta with the vertical when a constant electric field of magnitude E is directed along an angle \phi above the horizontal direction...- rmunoz

Finding Position and Velocity Using Rectilinear Kinematics Equations
i understand that the dv= a(t)dt can be integrated to acquire v(t)= \inta(t) dt However this produces 32 m/s if taken definitely (with 6 and 0 upper and lower limits respectively)... to integrate this again seems unusual since it is a constant (it almost seems to disregard the fact that v is...- rmunoz

Finding Position and Velocity Using Rectilinear Kinematics Equations
Homework Statement The acceleration of a particle is described by the following: a=(2t -1) m/s^2 So= 1m Vo= 2m/s Find a) velocity of the particle at 6 seconds b) its position (Sf) at six seconds Homework Equations v=ds/dt a=dv/dt a*ds=v*dv The Attempt at a Solution...- rmunoz

Rotational Inertia of Pulley, Integration Help
Homework Statement A pulley, with a rotational inertia of 1.5 10-3 kg·m2 about its axle and a radius of 21 cm, is acted on by a force applied tangentially at its rim. The force magnitude varies in time as F = 0.50t + 0.30t^{2}, where F is in Newtons and t in seconds. The pulley is initially...- rmunoz

Torque, Rod Balanced on Fulcrum
Homework Statement The figure below shows particles 1 and 2, each of mass m, attached to the ends of a rigid massless rod of length L1 + L2, with L1 = 17 cm and L2 = 85 cm. The rod is held horizontally on the fulcrum and then released. (a) What is the magnitude of the initial acceleration of...- rmunoz
