Finding e^A for 2x2 Matrix: Issues with Det(A-(Lambda)I)
I need to find e^A of this 2x2 matrix...A= 1 1 -1 -1 When I do det(A-(lambda)I) I get 0 for the eigenvalues, which makes no sense. Am I doing something wrong?- scienceman2k9

Solving a Linear System for Two Tank Salt Solution Problem
For this problem I don't think I am setting up the linear system right: Two tanks containing 500 gal of salt solution. Pure water pours into the top tank @ 5gal/s. Salt solution pours out of the bottom of the tank and into the tank bellow @ 5 gal/s. There is a drain @ the bottom of the second...- scienceman2k9

How long until two particle bunches catch up?
Problem: An observer at rest in a laboratory sees particles emitted from a source. The first bunch of particles is emitted with speed v=0.92c; the second bunch emitted 10^-3 s later with v=0.99c. How long, according to the observer, will it be until the second bunch catches up with the first...- scienceman2k9

Yes, that is the amount of the loan Clarissa can afford to borrow.
Problem: Clarissa wants to buy a new car. Her loan officer tells her that her annual rate is 8%, compuded continously, over a four-year term. Clarissa informs her loan officer that she can make qual monthly payments of $225. How much can Clarissa afford to borrow? I figured that she will...- scienceman2k9

Solve Diff. Eq. Problem Using Substitution Method - Step by Step Guide
Problem: y'=f(at+by+c) where a,b, and c are constants. Show that the substitution of x=at+by+c changes the equation to the separable equation x'=a+bf(x). Use this method to find the general solution of the equation y'=(y+t)^2 I really have no clue on this one. If someone could start me...- scienceman2k9

What Is the Speed, Period, and Wavelength of This Transverse Wave?
Problem: The equation of a certain traveling transverse wave is y(x,t)=4.00sin(81.0(pi)t - 1.590(pi)x) where t is in seconds and x and y are in cenimeters. Find the speed of propagation, the period and the wavelength for these waves (express you answer in units of m/s) So, I know A...- scienceman2k9

Physical pendulum of stick swing
Problem: A large stick is pivoted about one end and allowed to swing back and forth as a physical penulum. The mass of the stick is 5.90 kg and its center of gravity (found by finding its balance point) is 1.2 m from the pivot. If the period of the swinging stick is 3.90 seconds, what is its...- scienceman2k9
