Flat Belt and Pullies with different Coefficients
Yes, I am sorry about not following the proper format but i wasn't sure that this was even a valid quiestion. I don't think I am very clear at conveying what I am getting at. I understand: "If both pulleys are not of the same diameter, then the smaller pulley is the one that determines the...- Spencer25

Pulleys and a Belt, with friction and Torque
The exams are answer 5 of 7 questions so I skipped this one as I had never seen this type. Usually just calculating power and torque with two pulleys and a belt. This was the first time I had seen two coefficients of friction thrown in so thos is more for my own learning. Thank you so much...- Spencer25

Pulleys and a Belt, with friction and Torque
I think what they mean by total force is just tight side minus slack side. I know these questions are well below what people are used to on these forums and is very trivial for your skill level so I really do appreciate you taking the time for this. These questions are from Power Engineering...- Spencer25

Pulleys and a Belt, with friction and Torque
Thank you Haruspex, these exams often have mistakes but since I am not a physics whiz, if we did assume the contact angle was 180 degrees could you tell me how to solve? And a free body diagram?- Spencer25

Pulleys and a Belt, with friction and Torque
Torque on driver T = 2300N x .2m = 460Nm Torque on drum T=2300N x .6m T = 1380Nm Not sure how to calculate friction force on these...Do we have to assume a contact angle of 180 degrees if nothing is given or is that even required? Not sure what a free body diagram would look like for this.- Spencer25

Inclined Plane Forces - with a twist
Hi Smart People, I have spent a lot of time on this and have looked in Reed's and Wallker's applied mechanics but can't find a clear explanation. Calculating the force required when pulling up an inclined plane whether horizontally to the plane or at an angle seems pretty straight forward...- Spencer25

Conical Pendulum: Solving the Height Issue
So in this instance height is longer than the 3m string which is impossible. Do we just say that when ever H>L, H=L?- Spencer25

Can Physics Be Intuitive? Exploring the Complexities of the Field
Hi all, happy to be here. I really like physics but it is not really that intuitive to me. It is great to have a community to pose questions to and to bounce ideas off of. Thanks- Spencer25
