Angle of Inclination Homework: Find θ at Ladder's Verge of Slipping
Right in the middle, so 2.5m along Would the angle of repose be subtracted from the final angle? Or is it not relevant? I'm getting a final value of 82.032 degrees- SpiraRoam

Angle of Inclination Homework: Find θ at Ladder's Verge of Slipping
Not sure where I'd find / derive such an expression, there's no hint of it in the course notes..we've only been given the ones I mentioned- SpiraRoam

Angle of Inclination Homework: Find θ at Ladder's Verge of Slipping
Homework Statement A ladder of length 5 m is resting against a SMOOTH wall, its point of contact being just below a first floor window. The bottom of the ladder rests on the ground and the coefficient of friction between the ladder and the ground is 0.28 A person of mass 78 kg climbs the...- SpiraRoam

How Can We Determine the Operational State of a Bulb Without Using an LDR?
Ahh, I see now. That's helped actually - thanks. Can you think of any improvements to the circuit that could be made? Up to now I've said perhaps use a different voltage which can be split more evenly across the circuit- SpiraRoam

How Can We Determine the Operational State of a Bulb Without Using an LDR?
Lol is that a trick question? It could be that it hasn't been turned on, been physically broken or isn't connected properly so I'd say no- SpiraRoam

How Can We Determine the Operational State of a Bulb Without Using an LDR?
Other than it not receiving current anymore, or a fault in the circuit components I'm not sure sorry. Here is my circuit diagram though, would anybody be able to tell me how I should order a block diagram based on this? The circuit blocks are: Power supply, preset level of LDR, timer...- SpiraRoam

How Can We Determine the Operational State of a Bulb Without Using an LDR?
The question just asks why the time delay function, in particular, is necessary to serve 'that part of the circuit' that determinines incandescent light failure. I don't actually know anything about 'that part of the circuit' and how it determines the failure, sorry. I'm a newbie to...- SpiraRoam

How Can We Determine the Operational State of a Bulb Without Using an LDR?
I'm not sure how I'd quantify that? Would this be the 'time constant' ? I've wrote the definition as: 'the measure of the inertia of a sensor and how fast it reacts to changes in input - the bigger the input change the slower the reaction to a change in input signal.' Therefore would the time...- SpiraRoam

Why do LEDs in a circuit need resistors in series?
Is this why it's necessary for LEDs in a circuit to have resistors in series? The answer to this probably depends upon the type of circuit. This is the circuit I'm referring to on a breadboard:- SpiraRoam

How Can We Determine the Operational State of a Bulb Without Using an LDR?
Is it okay if I add to this thread with different questions that relate to the same circuit? (that I posted above) If so my next problem is finding out why a time delay is needed to show that the incandescent light had failed. I've no idea about this so any hints or pointers would be great...- SpiraRoam

What is a carousel? (Mechatronics)
Thanks alot. 'Manufacturing', 'motorised' and 'industrial' search terms seem to be producing better webpages now. I need to: - Provide Schematic of the chosen part ▪ Model the mechanical behaviour ▪ Explain the working principle ▪ Identify the different part of the system (links, joints, gears...- SpiraRoam

What is a carousel? (Mechatronics)
Haha, I wish it was the amusement park ride! So is it a mechanism that converts electrical power into rotational mechanical power, and vice versa? I assume it's comprised of gears, belts, links and joints as well as a motor of some sort?- SpiraRoam

What is a carousel? (Mechatronics)
Homework Statement https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carousel_(disambiguation) This may sound like a ridiculous question, but I'm required to do a presentation on mechanical aspects of mechatronics - specifically explaining what a carousel is. However, the internet doesn't seem to know what one is...- SpiraRoam
