High School Finding Quartiles for Ungrouped Data: Correct Method and Precision
There are 10 data values in my attached example. {51, 55, 57, 61, 62, 67, 70, 72, 73, 74} Q1 = 56.5 Q3 = 72.25 But Q1 = 57 Q3 = 72 instead- stpmmaths

High School Finding Quartiles for Ungrouped Data: Correct Method and Precision
From the question, is the way to find Lower Quartiles and Upper Quartiles correct? I have seen books taking the 3rd and 8th (from the question) as Lower Quartiles and Upper Quartiles respectively. Which should be the correct Quartiles?- stpmmaths

Tensile Testing (Determining Young's Modulus)
Question: Why is it not sensible to calculate the Young's modulus of the material (steel) when the experiments was conducted? But I thought it should be possible to calculate the Young's modulus after plotting the stress/strain curve. Young's modulus can be found by finding the gradient of...- stpmmaths

Plane Stress Analysis Homework: Determining σx' and Tx'y' Angle with Equations
Homework Statement Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution I'm in doubt the angle that I should be using to solve σx' and Tx'y'. Is 60 degree or -30 degree? Ps: I know how to determine the principal stresses and max shear. Just the angle that I'm in doubt at. 60 -30- stpmmaths

What's the broken diagonal line during stress-strain curves?
Sorry for bumping old thread. I just want to ask how can we find the 0.2% permanent set? Is it 0.002 strain? Or 0.002 multiply by sth, and what's that sth? Thanks.- stpmmaths
