    How to improve at Mathematics?

Thank you yyat... I haven't had luck at finding difficult exercises... I can do all questions in the textbook... The issue is, I'm not good at solving contest questions... Moreover, I'm quite slow at those type of questions... Thank you epenguin as well.. I've already read the...

Hello, I've been lurking around this forum for a short while; reading questions, responses and other intellectual goodies... So far, I have a positive outlook on this community and I hope I receive insights regarding my trouble in math... I'm not 'strong' in mathematics.. yes I did...

Geometric Optics: Snell's Law calculation problem

Depends what the question is... in the question, is light traveling from air to diamond or from diamond to air? if latter case is correct then your set up seems to be right... if the first case is correct then set up must be changed

Help with Part C: Horizontal Force for Moving Two Trunks

what horizontal force must the mover apply to move the combination of the two trunks at constant velocity force is not being applied to an object moving an constant velocity or sitting "still"... force = mass x acceleration... I don't see how you'd need a force to move an object at a...

Mechanical Energy Homework: Find E of 0.13 kg Ball at 5.00 m

I can't comment on WHY this is so.. but apparently.. the answer includes the potential energy of the ball as well = mass x gravity x height = .13 * 9.80 * 5m = 6.37J 26 J + 6.37J = 32.4J Not really helping but I'm not familiar with mechanical energy...

How much work must you do to change length of spring?

    Thinking about Hooke's Law Since, Force = -k * delta x Force = 200N/m * 14 - 10 cm or Force = 200N/m * 0.04m = Force required = 8N Work = Force x Distance Work = 8N x .04m = 0.32 J

I could use some basic physics help

First question Mass of train = 2500Kg Velocity Initial = 20m/s Force = Mass x Accel 500N = 2500Kg x Acceleration Once you find acceleration (or deceleration in this case), you'd have Velocity Initial = 20m/s Veloctiy final = 0m/s acceration = 500N/2500Kg Then you can look...
