How Do You Calculate the Electric Field of a Finite Charged Slab?

Homework Statement Need to calculate the electric field at x=2 for sheet of charge that extends from x=-3 and x=3 and is infinite in y and z. charge density rho=cx^2 c is a given numerical value Homework Equations integral(E.dS)= (1/epsilon)*volume integral(p dT) The Attempt at a...

Vectors- gradient and normal unit vector- is this correct?

Ok thanks ehild, I'm glad I did it correct first time. I have an exam next week so it's promising :)

Vectors- gradient and normal unit vector- is this correct?

Thanks for you reply, so do you know how I calculate the normal unit vector then?

Vectors- gradient and normal unit vector- is this correct?

    Homework Statement For the scalar field f(x, y, z) = x2 − y2 − z find gradf and normal unit vector to a surface f(x, y, z) = 0 at the point (1, 1, 0). Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution I calculated gradf= 2xi -2yj -k at (1,1,0) this is = 2i -2y -k normal unit...

Charged particle in magentic field problem

Very true... If I'm assuming all my understanding is now correct, there is no calculation to part i, just the fact that they are perpendicular ie 90 degrees

Charged particle in magentic field problem

sorry it seems I have become very confused. You are correct, i apologise for my questioning of your knowledge :)

Charged particle in magentic field problem

No the magentic force is perpendicular to both the vector and magnetic field vectors. This means the field and the velocity vectors are in the same plane. Thus they are not always perpendicular.

Charged particle in magentic field problem

Still not sure how to solve the angle for part (i) though!

Charged particle in magentic field problem

Is that a question you know the answer to and are asking me to think about or is it something you want to know haha sorry I'm a bit confused. The force will be perpendicular to the field and the velocity using the right hand screw rule

Charged particle in magentic field problem

Homework Statement A deuteron (the nucleus of an isotope of hydrogen) has a mass 3.34× 10−27 kg and a charge of +1.60 × 10−19 C. The deuteron travels in a circular path with a radius of 7.32mm in a magnetic field with magnitude 2.00T. (i) What is the angle between the velocity and magnetic...
