    Properties of integers:math induction

so on the left side... could i use sigma notation to verify the range and the addition of the numbers?? and on the right side ... i can see that it's just like 1^3, 1^3 + 2^3 , 2^3 + 3^3 3^3 + 4^3 how would i show this in terms of just using n ? n + (n)^3 ? the problem with this is that it...

    Properties of integers:math induction

    Homework Statement consider the following four equations: 1) 1=1 2) 2 + 3 + 4 = 1 + 8 3) 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 = 8 + 27 4) 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 14 + 15 + 16 = 27 + 64 conjecture the general formula suggested by these four equations and prove your conjecture Homework Equations...

Understanding Mathematical Induction: Explanation and Tips for Proof Techniques

hmmm i kinda understand it... but 1 more thing... for the inductive step, do i add k+1 to both sides?? or do i substitute k+1 for k in the right side of the equation? or would i substitute k+1 to the right side and then add k+1 to both sides?? because I've seen all these situations done in my...

Understanding Mathematical Induction: Explanation and Tips for Proof Techniques

Okay i need some help understanding what induction is..I know that for some open statement you must prove thatif the smallest element in the set is true... every element in that universe is true... I know that you use the basis step for the smallest element. and for the induction step you must...

Is the Empty Set Its Own Element or Subset?

what about this?? \oslash \subseteq {\oslash} would this be true? because from what i know... this is an empty set... and it doesn't contain an element... but it a subset of all sets... so shouldn't this be true?? or would this even be a proper subset?

Is the Empty Set Its Own Element or Subset?

Hey. um i got a few questions about the empty set... i know for a fact that the empty set is a subset of all any set.. a) but is it an element as well?? b) can it be an element of itself ? c) or even a subset of itself?? example \oslash \in\oslash is this true?? \oslash\subset\oslash...

    Electric Potential / Electric Energy

hmmmmmm when i do that ... I get the right answer ... but one question ... what happened to the Y part of the formula ? isn't that relevant to the solution as well ? because if u have an Fgy ... wouldn't u need an Fey in order for it so not move??

    Electric Potential / Electric Energy

    hmmmmmmm the answer says 5.76 x 10^-4 but i get 0.00331 ...... what i did was i found Fex = 0.864 and Fey = 4.9 i used pythagoras to find the whole part of the Fe and E = F / Q so i re-arranged it so that Q = F / E and that's how i got my answer ... what am i doing wrong?
