Pulse duration from interferometric autocorrelation
My pulse is gaussian (or near enough). I know how to calculate time/bandwidth product for actual spectra (wavelength vs intensity etc) but how can I extract similar info from the autocorrelation trace? I've attached a picture of the trace I have.- Voxynn

Pulse duration from interferometric autocorrelation
Hi, I have some interferometric autocorrelation traces of ~20fs pulses. Does anyone know how to convert to or calculate the actual pulse duration from the fringes of the trace? Thanks, Richard- Voxynn

How Can Pulse Duration Change After Passing Through a Material?
Thanks Gomboc. One question though: dispersion coefficient can also be found through the equation D(lam)= -lam/c * d2n/dlam2 where d2n is the second derivative of the material's refractive index against wavelength. Since the second deriviative of MOST glasses & crystals is positive...- Voxynn

How Can Pulse Duration Change After Passing Through a Material?
I have a laser with a short pulse duration (sub 20 fs) and i want to know how long the pulse would be after it passes through X amount of material. I don't know the refractive index of the material, but I do know its GDD over the wavelength I'm operating at. How do I go about calculating the...- Voxynn

What Is the Mechanical Device That Uses a Ball Bearing on a Track?
Does anyone know the name for a mechanical device where a ball bearing is made to go down a ramp, through loops, up and down pulleys etc, while moving on a metal rail? My first thought was a Rube Goldberg device, but I don't think that's it. Richard- Voxynn

Graduate Sellmeier equations & group delay dispersion
Hi, I'm trying to take this Sellmeier equation, n^2 (λ)=1+ (B_1 λ^2)/(λ^2-C_1 )+(B_2 λ^2)/(λ^2-C_2 )+(B_3 λ^2)/(λ^2-C_3 ) for which i have several sets of constants for prospective glasses, and convert it into a group delay dispersion graph, with axes of fs^2 vs wavelength. How do i...
