Is a Manometer Designed to Work Below its Natural Frequency?
Is manometer suppose to work below its natural frequency ? I saw a textbook problem asking to design a manometer with its natural frequency way way below the pressure's fluctuation frequency, so was confused. Thanks- XiangYan

Internal stress in the Al extrusion
Can anybody tell the stress developed during extrusion of Al Alloy. More importantly, is there a type of Al alloy that prefer least amount of stress.- XiangYan

Why Are My Aluminum Plates Warping After Extrusion and Cutting?
Sorry, maybe a typo, I mean wrap, means a curvature on the surfaces.- XiangYan

Why Are My Aluminum Plates Warping After Extrusion and Cutting?
Hi, I get a whole bunch of extruded Al plates. Each of them is about 7" long by 3" wide and 0.08" in thickness. They are extruded parts and cut into 7" long on each pc. However they are coming out wrapped, not substantial but quite a amount that is out of our tolerance. They are wrapped close...- XiangYan

Troubleshooting a High-Frequency Noise in a Capacitor
the drive voltage input is quite clean, no HF components correspond to the observed noise. Corona discharge happens and I think should happen regardless of the Alloy, the E-field should be on the same order for all cases. The plate is quite dry and the groove is open to air. Actually, we use...- XiangYan

Troubleshooting a High-Frequency Noise in a Capacitor
Thank you Enthalpy. Do you mean 3003 and 6063 have good insulator oxide layer, while 6061 less good ? The air layer does not spark (we can hear and see if it sparks, which happens occasionally).- XiangYan

Troubleshooting a High-Frequency Noise in a Capacitor
Hi, I am making a capacitor with Aluminum plate and Mylar film. Al plate surface has tiny groove arrays, each groove forms a cavity and the mylar film is sitting on top of the groove to allow its vibration under input AC voltage. I am putting in AC of ~300Vpp with frequency of 60KHz. The AC...- XiangYan

How Does High Voltage Affect the Charging of Mylar Film?
Thanks, The breakdown AC voltage may be dependent on frequency, I use quite high frequency ~60kHz, and it seems OK until 900Vpp. Once the film is charged, it has some internal E field, do you have some idea to measure this E field ? Appreciate your help Xiang- XiangYan

How Does High Voltage Affect the Charging of Mylar Film?
Hi, I was studying the effect of high voltage on the properties of Mylar film. The voltage input can be both DC (around several hundred volts to 1000V) and AC (same level as DC). The Mylar film is very thin, 6um, I know the film is going to be charged, but I don't know 1. how fast the film...- XiangYan
